Lot Information
Care & maintenance of the Cemetary is mandated to The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) which is a government delegated authority and not-for-profit corporation administering provisions of the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (FBCSA) on behalf of the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. The mandated amount that is added to the sale of plots, niches and foundations to ensure proper funds for the care and maintenance of the cemetery in perpetuity  The principle is held in trust, and the interest is used as needed to care and maintain the cemetery. 

The Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002, (FBCSA) and the Regulations thereunder, require that Cemetery Operators establish and maintain a care and maintenance fund to cover expenses related to the maintenance of the cemetery should the operator go out of business, and that a prescribed percentage of the above fee (currently 40%) be deposited in the fund. In our case, the fund is managed by the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee ( OPGT ) and we remit the required percentage to the OPGT and apply the balance of the fee to the operating costs of the Cemetery.

At Salem United Church Cemetery, we offer 2 types of burial lots meant for various scenarios:  
  1. Single Cremation Lot - 4ft x 4ft which can accommodate 2 urns - contact us for fee
  2. Single Casket Lot - 4ft x 10ft which can accommodate 1 casket & 2 urns or 3 urns - contact us for fee
Please note that there are additional fees for preparation of interment, foundation and marker instalations.  Our prices are subject to annual review by the Board of Directors of Salem United Church Cemetery Association.

We are presently selling lots in the New section of the Cemetery.

Memorial Tree Planting Program

We are offering a Memorial  Oak Planting Program for those wishing to leave a living legacy on the cemetery grounds in honour of family.  A small plaque will be placed at the base of the tree with the family name.
